Police Keep Watch For Children At The Market

The police officers are carrying out very strict checks at the markets around town to ensure that there are no kids 14 years and under present.

Daily checks for police include watching out for parents bringing children to markets while running errands and also doing shopping.

The market vendors are also discouraged from bringing kids to the market during working hours.

Inbound Travellers Warned Of Police Sniffing Canines

Inbound travellers by sea or air are warned of trained police dogs on duty at the main airports and seaports in Samoa that can sniff out illegal drugs.

Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clark gave the warning at the sentencing of  Mr. Tafuna Tauialo who was caught in possession of the illegal substance meth or “ice” by police dogs.

So our Commish Fuiavailili is finally sold on drones after the success of that big drug raid at the Faleatiu marijuana plantations.  He wasn’t all keen on it at first.  He had his doubts about flying them along the seawall to police against troublemakers but it looks like he’s ‘seen the light.’

 Police Commissioner Calls For Better Care Of Children

Police Commissioner, Fuiavailili Egon Keil, has called for better care of children at home after the loss of 3 young lives from separate incidences earlier in the week.

A 1-year-old baby boy is believed to have drowned behind his family’s home at Matafa’a, Lefaga. He was rushed to the TTM Hospital, Moto’otua, but died on the way.

Daughter Gives Proud Mother Best Mother’s Day Gift  

Ofakifomiapuli Fakaosi Fetalaiga, is enjoying one of her best Mother’s Day today, after watching her daughter graduate on Friday as a police officer.

Her 21 year old daughter, Salvation Hellen Fetalaiga, made her a very proud mother and not just by graduating after 17 weeks of training, as the youngest in the class of 36.

“This is the perfect mother’s day gift for me and I don’t want anything else as I am very proud of my daughter’s achievement, “Fetalaiga, who is Tongan, said.
