Court Ruling Unlikely Before Xmas In CEO Murder Hearing

Justice Mata Tuatagaloa, has advised legal counsels in the Supreme Court hearing of the alleged murder of CEO Sa’u Justina Sa’u by her husband Kolani Jr. Lam, not to expect a ruling before Christmas.

Justice Tuatagaloa, who presided over the hearing, was supposed to hear final submissions by counsels on both sides yesterday, but there were delays.

A new date is set for the 27th of November 2019 for the court to hear submissions.

Ex-Partner Vouched For ‘Humble, Loving Father’

A woman who lived for 11 years in a de-facto relationship with Kolani Jr. Lam, vouched in his defence, that he was a ‘humble, loving father’.

Ms. Aiva Toa - Kalati, was called to testify as a defence witness for her ex-partner who is defending against the alleged murder of his wife, CEO Sa’u Justina Sa’u.

Investigating Officer’s ‘Vigeka’ Tree Branch Evidence Challenged

The actual height of the ‘Vigeka’ tree branch where the body of CEO Sa’u Justina Sa’u, was found hanging, was strongly disputed by the defence in the findings by the police investigations.

Police senior sergeant Sonny Afu, gave evidence on the second week of hearing, where his observations of the size of the star fruit tree referred to as the ‘vigeka’ was hotly disputed by the defence counsel.

Maid Of Honour Does Not Believe CEO Sa’u Took Her Own Life

Prominent businesswoman, who was also maid of honour at the marriage of CEO Sa’u Justina Sa’u, would not accept suicide as the cause of her death.

Owner of SSAP, Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai, was one of the state character witnesses, in the murder hearing of Kolani Jr. Lam, accused of the murder of the CEO who is his wife.

Prosecution Goes After Suicide Defence in CEO Death

Murder accused Kolani Jr. Lam, faced strong state prosecution assertions to discredit claims that his CEO wife Sa’u Justina Sa’u, committed suicide.

“There was a time when Justina said “ua ou fia oki” (I want to die),” Lam responded at being cross-examined by the state prosecutor, Magele Leone Mailo.
