Young discus thrower Julia Sanft did not medal in her field event but it did not made her any less excited about her performance on Wednesday at the Apia Park Stadium.
The 17 year old cannot believe she threw the discus 38 meters, just a little shorter than the medal winning distances of a little over 40m.
Sanft is used to 20-25 meter distances with her throws but the new mark she set was a personal best.
When Newsline Samoa caught up with her for a comment she was still on a high from her performance and competing against some of the best in the Commonwealth.
"Life is incredible, starting from the training we were fortunate enough to attend in China earlier this year,” she said.
“We got so much out of the trainings there, I am so grateful for the opportunity to see myself do better than my previous performances,” Sanft said.
“I did not get any medal but am still so thrilled by the experience of representing Samoa and competing against some of the best competitors in the sport”
The young talent does not know what the future hold for her in the sport but the Pacific Games XVI will always be a proud moment for her.
