The Games volleyball venue inside the National University of Samoa Campus is under the watch of the traditional authority of chiefs and orators of Maagiagi Village.
The village role is in support of the Ministry of Police regular security service to ensure the event is run smoothly.
Maagiagi orator, Tiauli Magiagi, confirmed the village support in response to a request from the police, whose numbers are severely stretched.
"We feel privileged to be asked to help out by keeping watch on this selected venue of the Games,” Tiauli said.
“We want to help ensure that there will be no problems and whoever is thinking of causing them should be aware that we do not tolerate such behaviour."
Tiauli said that the whole village is involved, from the untitled men to the chiefs, who will be posted at the two gates in their black and white uniform
" Our job from now on and for the rest of Games is to make sure that the athletes, officials and spectators are looked after well.
"We want to be the driving force behind positive vibes and we want everyone to enjoy the wonderful time in our country.
"We want our friends who are here for the Games to feel at home and we want them to enjoy their experience in Samoa.”
Close to 100 men ‘matai ma taulele'a’ will be taking turns this week and next week on security duties at the volleyball venue.
"We are behind the government in this event that is already a success. We are ready to offer our service and be included in this proud achievement of our national history.”
