To’aiva Su’a is giving full support to Samoa’s badminton team and she plans to be at Tuanaimato till the end of the competition.
Her son Joatel Su’a Ng Lam is a member of Samoa’s badminton team for the 2019 Pacific Games.
The mother from Lefaga is putting aside her daily chores this whole week to be at Tuana’imato to cheer for her son and for the whole team.
She has been looking forward to the competition and on Monday she was at the gym early as she could not wait to see her son play. Although her son played the second day she was still excited to see the other players play. “ They are all my children. I cheer for them.”
Su’a is so proud of her son Joatel for being selected to represent Samoa at the Pacific Games.
“ I had been waiting for the day I would see my son run on to the play area. He made me proud. The results of the competition do not really matter me,” she told Newsline.
“My son is a talented sportsman. He plays soccer rugby and cricket. I didn’t know he had an interest in badminton.”
Su’a is also glad that her son’s selection for the badminton team has made her part of the Pacific Games. “ If Joatel was not playing I would be watching the Games on television in the village. But I have been given an opportunity to personally experience the Pacific Games by being present in the gym and part of the supporters for the badminton team. I’m so glad to be part of the 2019 Pacific Games.”
Badminton competition finishes Saturday this week with individual competition starting on Thursday.
