The Methodist Church of Samoa concluded their annual Conference with a special service to bid farewell retiring church ministers and to ordain 13 new Methodist ministers at Faleula on Sunday morning.

The four outgoing Methodist ministers includes the former President of the Methodist Church for many years,  Reverend Apineru Lafai as well as Reverend Fosi Tuumatavai and wife Maupenei Tuumatavai; Reverend Ioane Venitura Taeao and wife Tala’i Tauanu’u and Reverend Urima Fa’asi’i and wife, Fogavai Faasi’i.

The 13 newly ordained church ministers are; Reverend Feli Seve, Rev. Latu Malaesaili, Rev. Nonu Tui Fatu Savaii, Rev. Fiaalii Mata’u, Rev. Poutasi Tali, Rev. Iosefa Mavaeao, Rev. Sosaia Pese, Rev. Samu Jnr. Amituana’i, Rev. Panapa Malaki, Rev. Sione Lokeni, Rev. Asu Pele, Rev. Salu Aiolupo, and Rev. Ioane Leilua.

During the service, President of the Methodist Church, Reverend Faulalo Leti, told the new Ministers that it is their responsibility to gather the flock that has been dispersed and give them life through the word of God.

“If the flocks do not have life, it is because you have forgotten that you are a shepherd who has been called and chosen by God to the life of preaching his word,” said Reverend Faulalo Leti.

He also encouraged them to love in all that they do no matter the obstacles.
